If you are fortunate enough to be organising leadership or life coaching events, you know that people come to you for help.
Your events are not built to shock or entertain, but to inspire. It takes a strong person to ask for help, guidance and motivation and your attendees are smart and successful people who want to grow in life. There is no doubt that we all need it but…We ultimately are the social beings, and as such, we work very well in a group of people. Any coach will tell you, that even the most introverted delegate opens up in a supportive group of like minded individuals. However, for this magic to happen, we need the perfect surroundings. If we are to motivate and inspire, we need the right atmosphere and ambiance.
Having worked with some very successful leadership and life coaching planners, searching for the right venues for their booked out events, we have come up with the 4 venue traits they all opted for.
And in the words of Rembrandt : “Without atmosphere a painting is nothing”.
The room/rooms need to have a natural daylight and be as bring as possible. Sure…the blackout facilities are important when you need to show a projection, but during training and brainstorming you need the sunlight. Even if the day is cloudy, brightness makes our brain function much better. This is crucial for any leadership or life coaching events . Nothing worse than an artificial light- no matter how efficient it might be.
Make sure hotel or venue you selected has either: 1. Access to a green/spacious area outside 2. Access to a garden (terrace garden is also acceptable) 3. Location close to a park. This is hugely important because you shall be planning some activities outside. Also people like to go outside to breath some fresh air and reflect. They should not be stuck during a coaching or leadership or life coaching session in the inside all the time
Food is our fuel. Make sure the food served at your chosen hotel or venue is healthy and wholesome. Many hotels offer special “brain food ” packages for corporates. It seems as if many people begin to appreciate the common phrase ” We are what we eat“. Good food (light and delicious) will be the basis for the successful event. Foods rich in omga-3 fatty acids as well as various vitamins, will stimulate your delegate’s engagement and focus.
SPA! This works very well, especially if you are planning a 2-3 day events and are including bedroom bookings. After the event or training session, people like to indulge their senses, go for a swim, sauna or a message. Give them this opportunity. Go even further, and negotiate discounts and special packages for your attendees. Make sure the hotel you are booking, has great spa facilities with proper swimming pool, gym, sauna, treatment rooms and therapy areas. Your delegates will thank you for it.
